In Our Eighth Issue
We can almost hear the winter winds and feel a brush of snow, but—no matter—the holiday season is nearly upon us, so we really won't feel the cold until January, right?
This issue of Crochet 1-2-3 celebrates the season with many gift-making ideas, from wraps and hats to scarves and toys—we've even included a pair of pillows. I love how our Charing Cross Wrap can be worn solo or around the shoulders, and I especially adore Tammy Hildebrand's stacking Tree Toy—baby Deity loved it too! Hats are some of the most cherished gifts, so why not stitch up our Windowpanes Hat for the favorite guys in your life? Make multiples in different colors for them and then make one for yourself!
Speaking of gifts, Kim Guzman spotlights three different holidays in her "Technique 1-2-3" column. The color of each cowl celebrates a different holiday: Kwanzaa, Chanukah, and Christmas. And then it's on to deck the halls—your halls—with Susan Lowman's Goin' in Circles Table Runner. In the same room, you can show off our handsomely stitched Colors of Christmas Afghan.
Don't forget to join Gram when she helps Arica make holiday baubles (as columnist Allison Hoffman calls them). These embellishments are great for decorating gifts, showcasing as special "fridgies" (refrigerator magnets), hanging on your tree, and swapping with friends.
I particularly love Lisa Gentry's Ribbon Candy Afghan—and does it ever look like ribbon candy! Then there's the softness of snowflakes with our Sparkly Snowflake Throw and Soft Stars Baby Blanket. Let's not forget J. Erin Boland's filet-crocheted Dancing Teddies Baby Blanket—each teddy bear sports his own bow tie.
Here's wishing you and yours a peaceful and bountiful 2013 holiday season!
