Welcome to our Back to School issue! It's that wonderful time of the year when schedules are set and little (and not-so-little) ones head back to class. Making school lunches can be a chore, but it is a welcome one for many crocheters: it frees up a few hours for us to pick up our hooks.
This issue features adorable back-to-school outfits and a great tote bag for girls (the book shown in the tote on page 33 is one of my childhood favorites, The Blah by Jack Kent).
I love layering shawls—they are great ways to breathe new life into old jackets and will keep you even warmer when temperatures drop. We've included many shawls in this issue that you can wear either over a dress or a jacket.
For me, early autumn is a truly delightful time of year. I hope that you find the time to make several of the fantastic projects in these pages. I leave you with the McAlindin crew on their first day of the 2013–2014 school year.
